Our group is mainly working with experimental stroke models both in vivo and in vitro. We investigate molecular mechanisms and signaling pathways affected by ischemic insults. Thereby, we are focussing on the function of extracellular vesicles (EVs) released and isolated from mesenchymal stem cells and the influence on reorganization processes like angiogenesis, neurogenesis, and plasticity in stroke brains or angiogenesis-like processes in endothelial cells, respectively. Another aim of our research is to analyse the molecular composition of EVs from MSCs and the influence of different stress stimuli on MSCs regarding the secretion and function of EVs.
